The botanic is very elegant. The tables are covered in crisp white linen, the service is silver, the wine list is (for my price point) high-end, and there is a beautiful alfresco area.
The menu is great italian, and although not doing anything different than other lovely silver-service italian restaurants, the Botanic excels in providing exactly what you'd imagine, impeccably (although as others have noted, the service is at times a little casual for the setting). We had a bruschetta, I had the fantastic gnocchi, and my boyf a risotto. I hate risotto, but this was good, not chalky or dull.
If you want to sit with elegant customers and enjoy silver service alfresco under the vines, and watch the people walking past to rundle street, I recommend this excellent restaurant.
This is still a good place to come to if you want a meal in nice natural surrounds. It seems to mostly be nice and fresh food and there's a fridge with cold drinks.
And the good thing about it is after you've eaten, you're forced to walk to your car, so it makes you move and get some exercise.

Fantastic, fresh, homemade food. Made fresh each day. Really yummy sandwich combinations. The girls behind the counter were really friendly and warm and the setting is really pretty right next to the pond. Great higly recomend a walk around the gardens and then lunch here great day out.

I loved the food here. It was fresh, generous and incredibly tasty. On a nice day you can eat outside which is lovely. Service was good. Highly recommend.
