It was my favorite bookstore. Too bad it is not there anymore.
The used to close later than other shops at Melbourne Central and I used to go there while waiting for friends, dinner, or movies.
Good selection of books and especially magazines. Sadly they have taken away a lot of the chairs you could sit and look at books on - which doesn't seem as friendly! But a lot of books for pretty much all you're looking for (or magazines galore!)

I previously worked in a book store and I was quite impressed that every book was in stock and displayed very well! easy to find what your looking for, staff were quite busy and it was hard to grab their attention though. A++
I find it impossible to go to Melbourne Central without stopping at Borders. Great place; great range of books, magazines and DVD; and the staff are great too!
I love going to borders, It's a very relaxing place you don't have to have any book in mind of what your looking for because with so many books you'll find something great, the staff knows not to bother you, I've never tried the cafe but there are always people enjoying themselves there and the way the sections are arranged makes it very easy to find books you like.
The website is also very nice and compliments the store well.

This is no ordinary book store, there's also music and movies for sale as well. I love this place, its a great escape from the busy CBD, where you can just chill with a book. They even provide plenty of seats unlike other book stores so you can view material without the need to purchase. And the integrated Gloria Jeans just makes it even more pleasant.
My fav Borders store, it has everything that i need and if the item isn't in stock, staff will do whatever they can to get it for me. I love just walking around the store, it's relaxing to just peruse in, even if you don't want to buy anything
Excellent customer service, I bought a number of cooking books from there. There was a book that was not in stock they were more than happy to order it in for me.
I love this store it can be so relaxing to roam around and browse at your leisure and hang out with friends at the cafe. The service has been good, when I ask for a book, they help me find it or just leave me alone when i want to browse. Its a great store.
I love this Borders store, it's massive and has just about everything you could ever ask for. Nice quiet environment for reading or browsing. I enjoy their vast range and they stock for all genres
A great store to browse books or enjoy the cafe which is a relaxing haven. I go there with a friend to unwind and find it a peaceful yet hip environment.

I love this shop, I could spend hours in there. It has a great range of books, dvd's, cd's etc. The prices are great, usually much better than Angus & Robertson etc; & Borders regularly have sales & vouchers that you can receive via email. This particular shop can get quite busy, so can be hard to get staff's attention. Other than that, love it!
Borders is a fantastic bookstore and houses such a variety of books that I just cant help but go in when i walk past. However it lacks the warmth and friendliness that little independent bookstores have which makes borders look in comparison a little mainstream and stark. It's still a great place to settle with a coffee and magazine. The entire store is let down by the cd/dvd section which is outrageously overpriced.
Borders have an amazing range and some great deals. It's best to register for their mailing list on the website, for they send discount coupons at least once a week. The only reason for not shopping there would be to support a smaller trader, but if that's not a concern, then Borders is often the best bet. You can also look through their magazines without getting dirty looks from staff!
Borders have a wide selection of books and lots of titles that I could not find at other book shops. I like that they have regular discount vouchers emailed where I can get up to 40% off the price of a book/s.
Great service by knowledgeable staff, and they will attempt to find information if they are not aware. A Very relaxed place that allows you to enjoy books.
I have been there a couple of times. One experience worth mentioning was when I was looking for a book called how to legally avoid your tax by tony melvin and ed chan. I was having a bit of a problem in searching. It was not on the shelf even though it was registered in the computer. I asked for help from one of the staff and although he was very busy at the time, he helped me out. He went to the back and managed to pull out the last copy that they had. Really appreciate that.
Borders is a american bookstore chain which has over the last few years started opening branches in australia.There stores are the size of a small department stores.
They have a wide range of products they sell Dvd's,books,graphic novels magazines and comics.
The only problem i have found is some of their prices for comic book are rather high when compaired to comic book stores.
