At one point i could easily recommend the site, but not anymore...
Prices can fluctuate significantly for the same book (independent of taxes/currency differences), depending on the IP (!) EVEN IF THE SAME DELIVERY ADDRESS IS LISTED!
Discounts/coupon codes are rare these days & on & off you may be subject to orders you've placed, cancelled & refunded out of nowhere with no consideration of compensation to be given.
Customer service can range from excellent to exceptionally poor, bordering condescending & dismissive!
The strange thing is, book depository was bought out by amazon, yet to this day, amazon does have one of the best, attentive standards of customer service so how is it that it has not flowed through to book depository?
In all honesty, it's as though book depository does not feel the need to 'try' with their customers anymore...
These days, i'd recommend up & coming sites like 'awesome books' - sites that have re-focused on customer service, expanded range & offered more competitive prices at times than book depository offers.
Best book store ever, they have a variety of books to chose from with all the popular reads available. If a book you want is not in stock they offer to order it for you and you simply come back to the store and pick it up. It is great and easy
Simply can't get better priced books. Pretty much anywhere.
With free shipping, Book Depository beats Amazon on price every time (funny, given they're owned by Amazon!), and my orders usually arrive in under 2 weeks (sometimes in less than a week). Pre-orders arrive quickly, and if you DO pre-order books, you usually get them cheaper, too!
It's important to keep in mind you'll be ordering US editions of books, though, so they won't match your local editions if you're buying books in a series, and your money isn't going to support local publishers, either, which leads to higher-priced books if you ever DO want to buy them locally!
I've always had excellent service, though. I've needed to cancel orders, or ask after the status of one, and the staff have always been prompt and helpful.
The prices here are cheap, absolutely ... but sometimes the service leaves a lot of room for improvement. Zero communication if there is a delay in sending a book out and when you query it, it's like you are conversing with a robot.
Can't say enough positive things about this site they are SOOOOOO CHEAP. Takes about two weeks for deliver so plan in advance but it's free postage so can't complain at all. Intend to use for all future book purchases, hope they stick around and just get bigger although they already seem to stock most things.
Try www.booko.com.au and you'll find that bookdepository.com is not always the cheapest option! Often, but not always.

Free worldwide shipping and cheap prices on books make this a great find for a book devourer! Can be a little slow on delivery as they are shipped from London.
I agree - the books are so cheap it amazes me how much large book chains make!
