The Bellingen Valley was first settled by the Kooris long before the Europeans, the first European settler was a stockman named William Myles who arrived in 1840.
The area became famous for the cutting of red cedar, by the early 1900's red cedar supplies were nearly completely depleted. These areas were then turned into prime farming land and the valley a dairy centre. The dairy crashed in the 1960's with the rise of the European common market.
The course properly began in 1980 and is sited on three dairy farms, at one stage Phil Kelly planted over forty citrus trees most of which have now been replaced but still they offer tasty treats for golfers.
Bellingen has a number of heritage sites and still has a mix of both traditional and non-traditional farming.
The area is popular for both kayaking and canoeing, surrounded by enchanted bushland.
With a host of fairs, markets and festivals the area have a wide range of cultural events throughout the year.
