The Bed and Breakfast coop (around $2800) has been an absolute disaster. Complete rubbish. Had to replace every single screw, hinge, nail and latch (cost over $100) with hardware that was fit for purpose, ie rust proof and sturdy. Had to brace all corners. Even then the whole thing warped after rain, despite three coats of paint, and now everything has to be re-aligned. Essential parts of the structure cracked and broke meaning doors wouldn’t close or open. It’s a constant repair process. The perches all needed to be planed flat, the wood is cheap and nasty and they would have anABSOLUTE HIDE charging $100 let alone $2800 for this pile of rubbish. DO NOT GO THERE! Needless to say they don’t answer their phone!

The service people I spoke to were extremely helpful and professional with the advice given. The only problem I had was the delivery instructions were not followed as requested. The Mansion is serving our chickens very well and making caring for them much easier.

Highly recommended back yard chicken coops and the "penthouse" coop, company was a pleasure to deal with, delivery was prompt and the coop was a breeze to put together, very decent quality product for the price paid,

We purchased our Penthouse Chicken Coop from Backyard Chicken Coops. After a great deal of research to find a coop which was chicken & owner friendly, we are pleased we bought the one we did. It offers safety, efficient layout & comfort for our girls, yet is easily cleaned & accessible for us. We also love the fact that it is a visual asset for our backyard & it receives lots of complimentary comments from neighbours, family & friends.

We bought the Mansion Package for our 5 spoilt princesses with feathers. BCC organised delivery and we READ the instructions about preparation of Mansion and the ground prep. We used the recommended paint and we were rewarded with a beautiful weather proof coop and run. We highly recommend Backyard Chicken Coop for quality and price of there products. Friendly service and a genuine care for their clients, both human and feathered. Thankyou BCC. Dawn and Greg

I recently bought the Taj Mahal coop and genuinely thought it would be a good product. Purting it together was a nightmare. The wood was lightweight and cheap and cracked or chipped and didn't fit , especially the roof , gaps everywhere - that should have been a warning, but I persevered until I realised that the only good thing about Backyard Chicken Coops is the marketing. What a waste of hard earned money. I'm going to throw it in the dumpster.

Such bad quality. Wish we never bought a chicken coop from them. Cheap timber pulled apart as soon as it was screwed together. They replaced the sections....but it was already put together and extremely difficult to change the sections over. We have continued to patch the cheap timber and wire as it falls apart over the 18 months we have had it. However, it is almost beyond repair now. We painted it as per the instructions before we put it together. We got the cluck house coop.

This product is appalling. I took to my lawyer and got a refund. (I paid $4500 for the double run mansion, thinking it was high end! Pffft) Unbelievably bad product, sold for a ridiculously high premium by a smooth talking con man. Absolutely the worst product - leaking roof, un-matched joins, gaps everywhere, sticky resin all over the wood, swelling wood in wet weather. What a mess. I had rescue chickens without a home, and had to do a massive amount of extra work to make this piece of crap even marginally suitable for temporary use. Huge mistake. DO NOT PURCHASE A THING from this appalling company. [Redacted inflammatory comment]

Really , so so disappointed!!!! .. it’s together but I haven’t ever got chickens yet as I feel so sad about it all !! I was going to buy the free range fencing, but have lost all faith in the company now !! Please

Ordered a 48m poultry fence on line and a 24m fence arrived a week later. When I call them to enquire I was then informed an additional fence would be sent. 2 weeks later it hadn't arrived. When I called again I was informed it hadn't been dispatched. They have now advised it will now be sent soon. Not a good experience so far, and only half a fence!

You know the legal term "unmerchantable quality"?
It basically means that a product is simply not good enough to be sold... it cant do what it is supposed to do.
The roof leaks
The nest box leaks
The catches rusted at once
The rain gets in the window
It twists when you try to move it and you have to try and get it aligned again
It is designed in Australia and made in China
I think these coops are "unmerchantable quality" and if enough customers complained to their retailer, and gave them enough grief, they might stop importing, selling and make a fortune on cheap chinese products.

Are these people serious? Imported rubbish that's no better than you get from eBay but costs ten times more. I can't believe they aren't on a current affair for selling their rubbish coops. Buyer beware! I'm glad I got the smaller, cheaper coop first, and didn't buy the mansion straight off. Money back guarantee? Yeah right.

I bought the Taj Mahal because I liked the look of it.
However my chickens do not hold the same view. They HATE it & will not go in it. I have just checked with someone I see has the same coop advertised for sale & they had the same problem. Maybe some chickens are different, particularly if they are put into it when they are little.
I did find it quite easy to assemble, though one roof slat was cracked & another bit chipped, when it arrived. The ladder bits are also too flimsy & have cracked across the screws within a few days of assembly.
I will be interested to see how it weathers, particularly the sliding doors, which I suspect will warp.

The Penthouse: Creative design, but it really is a waste of money. So over-priced and only lasts 3 months. I never received the opener for the internal door - I was told to look harder in the wrapping...... It was NOT there. But I wasn't believed and they did nothing about it. It
is a very large key. If it's not there, it's not there! I didn't receive the swing in the order either but it came after I rang. Within 3 months, the back door had warped as it is not braced, and so the timber slats had moved apart. It is now loose and will not shut without effort as the screws for the hinges have come out because the timber has started to rot where the door frame is. The chimney area leaks even in light rain. The window slider has deteriorated, the handle on the window has cracked off, and the window won't slide because the masonite has swollen & cracked. I rang to tell them of these design faults and they wanted me to send photos or a video of closing the door. They suggested I put a hose on the roof so they could see where the water is dripping down in the video I was to send them. You've got to be joking?!! Bad design of the back door - it needed to be braced and not enough sealer used to seal the chimney area. Basically cheap timber used throughout. Then I was told that I needed to paint the house once a month to keep it in good order!! This type of upkeep was not mentioned clearly on their website at the time of purchase. This week, pieces of ship-lap timber have fallen off below the back door - they are not nailed on but glued on,and this indicates that the glue is not weather- proof. This is not part of my upkeep ritual of weekly maintenance, but their failure to build correctly so that it lasts. I paid over $1200 and I should not have to complain about an inferior product.
I gave them 1 star to leave this review but they deserve none. I cannot recommend them at all. Fortunately the 3 chooks free-range all day and only go home at night. The tarp over the house solved the water leak but looks terrible. The back door has to be rebuilt & braced at my expense. I hope this review helps others to make an informed decision before purchasing from this company

I wouldn't recommend at all. The Penthouse size is slightly smaller than advertised and it is flimsy. I don't know the type of timber but it doesn't have any strength to it. After unpacking and a careful examination of the parts I found some parts with cracked and splintered timber, one part of which appeared to have been repaired with wood filler. The slight size difference in width (50mm) is only a problem if relying on the advertised size for concrete footings. Instead of sitting in the middle of 100mm wide footings it sits on the inside edge.
I haven't built it yet but my initial feelings are it has been a big mistake.

I have just paid $1000 including freight to Perth for a Gorgeous Penthouse chicken coop. Beautiful to look at, a very practical design chicken coop. But the timber is cheap lightweight Chinese pine, held together by flimsy tacks. I have painted it with three coats of paint to protect it. Already three weeks later hinges are rusting, door is loose. Will it last in the elements for more than 12 months?? Anyones guess. Extremely disappointed with the quality. Would I purchase another one? NO No No!!!
On a more positive note staff were extremely helpful with all my enquires. Shame such a great looking practical design just doesn't have the quality.

Very excited to see theTaj mahal coop arrive after a longer than stated time frame only to find that one of the roof panels had been split by a misplaced nail or screw on construction causing the loss of a roof panel for us. After sending photos and emailing and calling and emailing again and being assured that somebody from the " Warehouse" would get back to me I have felt impelled to write this review. The coop would have been great and indeed looks good in the yard but would I deal with this company again ? No definitely not

I ordered my coop online as the design looks to be very well thought out (I still think this, by the way). It was a little more expensive than coops of a similar size but seemed sturdier and as though more thought had gone in to it.

I was enormously disappointed, however, by the instructions and the after-sales service. I unpacked everything and was doing quite well until page 2, when it became apparent that there was no way in Hades that the ventilation chimney was going to attach to the panel - a panel which appeared in the illustrations but was not mentioned in the written instructions. After about 4 days I got an answer to my email query admitting that one step of the instructions had been left off and telling me that hundreds of other customers had managed just fine so if I sent a photo, I'd be told what *I* was "doing wrong."

I managed to hold my tongue on the tenor of the email, and send the requested photo. I got a 1-sentence response telling me to "swap and rotate the panels." I sought further clarification on this and asked what was meant by rotate the panels, since the instructions clearly state that the cut out pieces go on the bottom (and God knows, I'd read and re-read them when it all went wrong!) I then got another 1 sentence email admitting that that was the owner's mistake when writing the instructions.

Maybe it's just me, but I reckon that if you market a product as having easy to use clear instructions and being DIY, it probably shouldn't have 2 mistakes in the first two pages that require you to reassess where things might go and do the exact opposite of what the instructions tell you. Apparently the hundreds of other customers understood that by "make sure the cut-outs are at the bottom," what was meant was "make sure the cut-outs are the top." Perhaps they all have a background in carpentry. I don't. But I have constructed many things over the years, by carefully following instructions; ones that were actually right.

The company has also managed to ignore the part of my email where I queried why the discount for liking them on Facebook was not applied at checkout. I also asked in the additional comments of my order if we could try to get delivery to happen on a couple of particular dates when I could work from home. This was unacknowledged and ultimately ignored. Thankfully, the delivery guys dumped it on the verandah rather than taking the boxes back to the depot (which is what the checkout process advises will happen, for the security of your order), or they'd probably still be there.

Beyond disappointed, as I'd hoped to use this company again to extend our flock, maintain the coop with the oil they sell etc/. And I'm now very fearful of what other problems will arise when I take on the Chicken Coop, Round 2, this weekend, and attempt to complete it.

I highly recommend my fellow chicken breeders the coops from these suppliers. They are best I must say. It gives my chicken the security, enough freedom and space. The Mansion is just perfectly designed according to what I wanted for my flock. My hens cluck more now because they got nice home to live in and no predators to get in.

Let me first say by saying that I was never fond of chickens, but lately my husband and I thought of keeping chickens and built a little Chicken coop, and let me tell you it was a mess. Then we found Alcatraz for our small 2 chicks. Economically and shelter wise it fits flawlessly. We can move it around and yes! Not to mention the delivery these people made was speedy we never thought it would be. The delivery guys were very humble and kind and helped us all through the assembling process.

I live in Australia and have a flock of 3 hens. From quality to designs, these suppliers have improved! I got mines at pretty affordable price. No doubt they are Australian's trusted Chicken Coop Supplier. The quality maintained with trendy design is a perfect pair. The weather-treated wood saves my chickens from harsh climatic conditions in Australia. The Cluck med accommodates my chicks very nice. Outstanding and prompt service!

It was like as if they sneaked into my mind and traced the design I wanted. Perfect! The Taj Mahal was my dream coop and I m really greatful to these people for building a chook house which meets the customer's needs and the hens. It saved my time and just the look at the coop made me go all merry merry. The item was sent at the appointed time and that's really commendable. I'm very happy.

"Shipment of the Mansion came just within three days as promised. From unpacking to assembling, it took us less than 15 minutes. The start-up kit made everything easy and without fuss the coop was assembled. Each of my 15 hens have enough space now. I really liked the idea of extra nesting boxes. That's just about the thing my hen wants. I'm glad I saved my money and waited for this one. Its worth the money I paid."

The seller contacted me as soon as I placed the order. Must say ‘Excellent customer service'. My family and I are very delighted with the small coop (Alcatraz) that we bought from them. From the sturdy shelter to stylish designs, my hens feel more at ease now. I recommend it to all my fellaz. Everyone who sees it, love it and my kids love it too. The assembling took 15 minutes. With the wheels provided, it's easy for us to move the coop around wherever we want. I love the design and feel pleased.

I moved around and had been looking for the best coops for my flock. No where I could feel satisfied until I came across Backyard Chicken coop supplier. Their designs show improvement from the last time. They are stylish yet practical. I wanted my hens to stretch their legs and make a good run, and the extended Pent House did the drill. The service and response from these guys was very helpful. Thank you for being so receptive and kind and most importantly giving me a discount ;)!

For people who are just starting to keep and raise chickens, I would suggest to use Backyard Chicken Coop Supplier services. From the last time I visited them, I see they have propped up their designs very well and made trendy changes into their products keeping the necessary needs in focus. I m keeping chickens since 5 years now and purchased the Pent House for my flock of 20 hens in great discount they offered me. However, it was getting short of space, they specially built it according to the space I needed and im now relaxed. Remarkable customer service and perfect for my Aussy Chicks.

I live in Australia, my father and I like keeping chickens and we bought this amazing chicken coop Taj Mahal which looks like it is built for Australian heat. They have come up with Great Designs and specs now. These people provide very good service. The delivery of the coop was quicker than we expected and its arrival pleased us all as much assembling had been done already. The problem with my previous coop was, my hens would get jam-packed in the small coop, now my hens happily move around and I no longer have to worry for predators too as the wood and wire mesh used in this coop doesn't let the intruders in.

I purchased the Cluck Med from these guys and it was the best value deal out there for the coop type. Easy to assemble. Looked great. Turned out that it didn't quite serve our purpose and when I range them Grant was exceptionally helpful. He sourced me the larger version at a discount and gave me tips on onselling the one I had bought. Their service was responsive and I noticed that they have upgraded the quality and innovation on their coops even in the last couple of months since I first bought. I would use them again and recommend to others. The prices are very good compared to what else is out there.
