Ok, I have visited many cafe's around Melbourne and Geelong and as far as great tasting coffee goes, this is the best in Melbourne I have experienced. So, when you approach the counter, you might receive a friendly smile, a verbal greeting, or you might even be ignored for a moment or 2, it depends on who is behind the counter. Sometimes the staff are a little bit too relaxed and if they are chatting to someone, which they usually are, they might forget they are at work and need to serve customers. That said, the few extra minutes you might wait for their attention is worth it. The coffee has a beautiful creamy smoothness to it and a pleasant hazelnut flavour that works so well with any type of beverage. If you like your coffee hot, ask for extra hot as, like most cafe's, they tend to heat the milk to low 60's, where as I like mine around 70 degrees Celsius. Also, the serving size is quite small, so you could either order a few cups while your there OR order one of their Keep Cups for $12 (includes a free coffe in it), or bring your own. One other thing to note is in my experience, I like to order take away coffee as it seems to take much longer ordering in, especially in busy times.

Atomica is great place with outstanding coffee. If you love coffee definitely come here! We had salmon pesto omelette, Spanish omelette, vegetable breakfast with Moroccan beans (called MT), coffees and a honey dew + green tea combo. The meals had good sized portions though I don't like cold salmon with a hot breakfast. the vegetarian breakfast was the winner - excellent taste. Coffee was glorious. The short macchiato was excellent - just a smidgon below The Maling Room, which does the best short macchiato in Melbourne. The honey dew + green tea was very good. Atomica has fabulous ambiance with music that suites the place very well. Waiters were attentive but they called have filled water glasses instead of being asked. The place is so popular that it takes a long time to get your coffee. They need to fix this. I bill came to $100 so it was a pain to pay cash. They need to fix that as well. These little short cuts are to make life easier for the staff but they are inconveniencing their clientelle. Overall, a terrific cafe and we will be back.

You have to try the vegie burger (even if you're not vego)! It's actually made from vegetables rather than a processed vegie pattie... Tastes amazing! Haven't had anything else on the menu but service was really good and coffee was great!
Does it taste vegetarian though?
The coffee is just amazing. It's the smoothest most drinkable coffee i have ever had the pleasure of drinking. THey are courtious and nice. Only suggestion is they need a few more people serving in the morning....you have to wait for ages!
The coffee at Atomica is fabulous, and the cakes are delicious. I usually opt for takeaway (on class break at Uni) and the service is very prompt.
