I have a digital safe that lost battery power. Thinking that I'd be up for a big bill on fancy batteries or even a new safe, the friendly locksmith showed me how to open the battery case, took out the old batteries (4 x AA batteries) and reset it. He didn't have any AA batteries in the shop, but when I got home and replaced them, the safe works like new.
