Absolute beginners sewing classes

Laura runs a fun and educational class. She’s great at teaching and ensure there’s always a touch of humour too. Definitely recommend her classes!!

Laura runs the most amazing classes with humour and tea. She has a great way of teaching her skills in an unrushed but knowledgeable way. Can't rate higher than 5 but would give her a 10 if i could.

Laura has been amazing and funny since day 1 I joined. I did both overlocking and sewing classes and totally loved every single one of them! Love her classes especially they come with Laura's language such as the funky bottom, up up, and the famous bag bag!

I have been with Laura for approx. 3/4 years, my children bought me a Overlocker for Mother's Day when I was very ill, I had no idea how to use it. By accident we were driving passed her house when I seen her sign, I rang her then joined her to learn how to use my overlocker, best decision i made, I still make things on my overlocker but also use my sewing machine as well to make things Her classes are so relaxing and fun, I learnt to make so many things from the 2 machines and how to draft a pattern , yes her coffee is good as well. She also puts on project days to explain anything that we would want to know or want to make.

I had wanted to take a sewing class for so long, absolute beginners came recommend and has been better than I had hoped, great classes, great tea!
Lots of chatter and fun! And a touch of sewing thrown in..

I’ve been going to sewing classes for the past couple of years. I love our classes for both the practical and also the social aspects. Our teacher Laura instils the attitude of “give it a go” and she ensures we enjoy the journey of learning. Since starting I’ve overcome and become rather proficient (not bragging, just saying) at using my sewing machine and my overlocker, with Laura’s guidance. I’ve made coats, capes, dresses, bags, leggings, pants, aprons and costume outfits. I will continue to go to classes and venture into more exciting journeys with Laura for a very long time. Laura is always available to help if I’m having a challenge with something I’m working on at home. My friend has joined our classes and is creating amazing projects. Laura’s classes are simple, easy to understand and perfect for anyone wishing to enjoy sewing and the creation of your own designer pieces. Big plus is Laura has a bottomless teapot and coffee on hand for us as we have fun in Laura’s studio.

I bought an overlocker and was fustrated, from threading to tensions I was ready to put the machine away and forget it. I found Laura and booked into her overlocking course, best thing I could have done, she showed me lots of different things that can be done and gave me a book of my examples and references on how they were done. She allowed me to learn at my own pace and is very welcoming and always a pot of tea on the table. I now love my overlocker.

As a mum with 2 young kids, I wanted yo learn a craft and also have some time out. Laura at Absolute Beginner's Sewing has taught me gow to use a sweing machine and also provides a great environment. Pots of tea on the table, a laugh and a great teacher. Thank you Laura for providing such a comfortable place to learn.
