I love going to Hotaru for Japanese sushi. Almost all of the dishes are only $3 each which is quite a good deal! My favourite $3 dishes includes the raw scampi, takowasabi and the grilled scallop. I can eat 4 dishes of scampi each time I visit as they are just so sweet and fresh. They have an extensive menu which includes udon, sashi, ramen to desserts. The staff are quick and efficient, taking orders from you the dishes aren't on the sushi train belt. I prefer to order the sushi myself so they make it for me right away to ensure its freshness, and the seaweed is still crispy. The place can be very full during peak hour, you will need to get a ticket. I find the seats are too small and there isn't space to put my bags. However, I will definitely go back for their $3 dishes!

This is one of the biggest fruits and vegetables shop in Ashfield. Lots of packing available at the back. There is a butcher selling meat on the side as well, so it is actually a one-shop stop. We love buying the items that are in pre-pack bags and trays as they offer the best value. A huge bag of big zucchini was $1.49! We also bought a huge seedless watermelon as well which costs only $0.99/ kg. You get to choose and pick the melon yourself. Unfortunately, the queues are always long at the cashier, but the staff are generally very quick and efficient.

My colleagues always come here on Wednesday for lunch and dinner after work as they have specials on Wednesdays in which all mussels are half price! My favourite is the Poulet sauce which has bacon, lettuces with wine cooked in white sauce, the mussels are very delicious! The restaurant is always fully packed on Wednesday because of the great deal. We never get a table but there are small, tall tables that are right next to the bars if you don't mind. The waitstaff are very efficient, bringing out the chips and sauce quickly. The chips are fried very nicely too!

We bought 3 bunches of baby bok choy from Panetta Fruits and they cost only $0.80 per bunch (has 3 little bunches in it). They are really fresh and the bunch size is quite huge. They have delicious dips and aioli for sale as well which we buy for our breads and bruschettas. The bananas are very cheap too! High recommended place for fruits and vegetables.

We buy Chinese groceries from Miracle Supermarket as it is located within the Macquarie Shopping Centre with lots of parking available. The shop itself is actually quite small but it has almost everything a kitchen would need. I buy my hot pot ingredients and frozen food (fish balls, fish tofu, sliced pork and beef for hot pot purpose) from them as it is closer to my home. However, their prices aren't very competitive - I find the prices are a little more expensive in general, so I only buy specific things from them.

My husband and I went to Bavarian Bier Cafe in Chatswood for dinner just before our movie. We told the waitstaff that we have a movie session next so if they can please put our order as a priority. They happily did so. The main dining area were full already when we got there, so we sat at the drinking bars area which wasn't bad at all. Tall seats were just as comfortable. We ordered a roast pork belly which was very delicious as the skin was cracking and very crispy. My husband ordered a Lowen schnitzel which was delicious too. We were quite full with the dinner although the size on the plate looks small. We got a buy 1 get 1 free discount with the Entertainment card which was quite a good deal. However, then the bill came through, there was an item of $2 donation which we have no idea how it came through. We were in a hurry going to the movies so didn't get a chance to ask. Overall, the dining experience was enjoyable and we will be back.

My mum and I loves shopping at Ashfields of Fruit for fruits and vegetables. We always go and check out the the bargain area first. The bargain bins usually have goodies at a bargain price if you go there early. $2 for a huge bag of mushrooms and $0.99 for a bag of roma tomatoes. Other fruits and vegetables are priced reasonably as well and we always shop for our mixed greens salad leaves there as they are slightly cheaper than Woolworths and Coles. Staff are friendly, polite and offer their assistance. Lots of parking available which is convenient for shoppers carrying heavy baqs of fruits!

We buy meat from Hong Meat Market every week. It is located right next to Sakura Chinese Supermarket and directly opposite Eastwood Shopping Arcade. I find that their meat are competitively priced and the meat are very fresh. I usually buy beef mince and pork ribs from them; for chicken wings and drumsticks, if you buy 2 kgs or more, then it will cost cheaper than buy just 1 kg. The staff are very fast, efficient and friendly as well, always happy to chop up the meat and bag them separately for us so we can store them easily for separate meals. Never have a problem buying meat from them!

My family and I go to Asian City Chinese Supermarket for weekly groceries shopping for Chinese items. The bargain area for fresh produce is a must-checked out area as they sell a bag of vegetables (eg. bok choy) for $2-2.50 which can last you for a few meals. They are very fresh as well. I find that their prices are very reasonable with sale on many daily cooking items (marinating sauce) every week. 4 packs of frozen dim sims (eg sticky rice) sell for $6 when they have a promotion, where other places sell for $10. They also gave me a VIP card which entitles me to 10% discount off non-sale items (rice exclusive). Check outs are fast and efficient too!

Sushi Samurai is one of my favourite restaurant for Japanese cuisine. We usually request a table sitting outside as the smoke and smell from the kitchen can get quite intense if you sit inside. Our must order items from the menu includes the Sashimi Main, takoyaki, salty chicken wings and the Pork belly which is very delicious as it melts in your mouth. The waitstaff is very courteous and efficient, all requests are attended to straight away. We always order desserts after our meals, our favourite is the green tea and sesame ice cream. The price of the desserts are reasonable and the ice cream scoop size is huge! My husband requested a dish called the chicken soft bones which wasn't on the menu, which they happily made it for us too!!! We are very happy customers whom will be back again!
